The last flight just landed
early-bird passengers
still let roar their trolleis
brought there by rare cabs
driving on the wrong side
except for lonely guards
it's desert all around

on a bench my rucksack
became a pillow
to caress your forehead
to lull your colored skin

there's a bit of Cyprus
please keep it where it is

What could be in your dreams
while I sit and survey
some unknown plainsong
coming from the mosquee
like those in Nicosia
when the old loudspeakers
call on the gentlemen

crossing the checkpoint gate
ready with documents

where under the shade of
venetian balconies

Pricking spikes of thistles

Akamas strip of land
